All About Aurora Postage Stamp Trains
Part 5: Rolling Stock

All freight cars (except for the transformer car) were manufactured by Roco in Austria and branded for Trix in Western Germany. Passenger cars were manufactured by Trix. Packaging varied considerably. All cars of the same type were assigned a single catalog number, with "road codes" to distinguish them, although labeling was haphazard. Trix also released a number of Canadian freight cars that are listed separately because of the likelihood they aren't genuine Postage Stamp.

Rolling Stock Index

  • Items in yellow rows were not in any catalog, but appeared in sets or were sold individually
  • Items in tan rows appeared only in train sets
  • Items in grey rows were announced but, to the best of my knowledge, were never released
  • Road codes appear in the index and detail pages even if they don't appear on the packaging
  • Second price is the 1969 MSRP

The rolling stock index is probably incomplete. However, in order to ensure authenticity, the only way new entries will be added is under one of these two conditions:

  1. the car is in a factory-sealed train set tray
  2. the box unambiguously identifies the car by catalog number and road code, and/or by generic car type and road name (example at right)
