4865: Depressed Center Cars with Load

Prototype Information

Depressed center flat cars allow railroads to move very large, heavy loads such as transformers, generators and other bulky equipment. They come in a wide variety of sizes and configurations, from small, compact cars with ordinary two-axle trucks to behemoths having eight six-axle trucks or more. Appropriately, Roco chose a relatively small, generic-looking six-axle car and loaded it with what appears to be a spool of wire or sheet metal, and a bogus-looking cradle.
