Season 3: Abaddon's Gate

"You can't stop the work!"

Although the story begins to lose some of its energy as things get bogged down inside the Ring Space, the season is still carried by outstanding performances and top-drawer production values. More new characters are introduced, every one of them expertly cast and brilliantly realized, while a few secondary characters from Season 2 are brought to the fore—Errinwright and Drummer being prime examples. No matter how absurd things may get, we're always drawn in by the characters... even though the writers aren't afraid to throw some of them under the bus.

We do have a regrettable farewell: Anderson Dawes carries on in name only; Jared Harris was unavailable to continue his extraordinary role owing to the immense popularity he gained on The Expanse.

SEASON SCORE:

Trivia: An interesting tidbit featured in one of the commentary tracks is that the show's runtime is longer on Canadian cable than on American cable, so each episode has a few minutes of "fluff" that won't affect the integrity of the episode if removed. Most of the time I'm unable to spot it, but in "It Reaches Out" it simply has to be the bit where Ashford is wandering around the bridge singing.

Hard Media Extras: Sadly there are no commentaries for this season, but there's a fair number of bonus docs; the last three are definitely worth your time:
