Alan Tudyk is a national treasure, and making him the lead in a sci-fi comedy series is perhaps the best way to showcase his brilliance. That's not meant to take away from the rest of the cast; they're all delightful as oddballs living in small-town America. But Tudyk is the reason to tune in, particularly since a quirky small town is nothing new, nor is an alien living among humans. As I've said many times, the vast majority of comedies for me are a swing and a miss; Resident Alien, however, is a home run—I binge-watched the first season three times in a row.
