4.21. Three Daves General Store and Phil's Barber Shop
The Mountain Vista Railroad had a heavily bashed hardware store that's been recruited for service on this layout as the Three Daves General Store and Phil's Barber Shop. Work started sometime in March 2020.
As of 4 June 2021, it looked like this:
Then, on 7 June it looked like this:
The addition on the left side is Phil's Barber Shop, complete with working barber pole. Below, the building is posed on the layout with Spano's Service Station to the left and Josh's house to the right.
By 11 June 2021 all it needed was the roof and some interior detailing.

GENERAL STORE
George A. Robie & Son was the general starting point for the original mashup, at least structurally.
These rare 1940 color photos offer us a glimpse of how things looked back in the day. I "shopped" a few window images together to make displays behind the model windows. I also reproduced the sign at the left end of the first image, and planted it on the porch.
BARBER SHOP
And to think I stressed over the number, angle and direction of stripes on the pole, as well as which way and how fast it turned...
Named For
Three Daves comprises Dave Vollmer (below left) and Dave Foxx (below right), fellow modelers who have been very supportive of both my work and my emotional health. Oh, and I'm the third Dave.
The barber shop is for Philip Hoffman (below), another modeler who has likewise been very supportive of both my work and my emotional health.
