3.30 Combine Station

I added a station just for the Mountain Vista Railroad, so that the tourist line didn't have to use the Boston & Maine Augustine station, awkwardly located across two tracks. This also allows the Mountain Vista Railroad to function independently from the Boston & Maine, only requiring their mainline for runaround moves. It will simply be an Athearn Overton combine on a foundation with a platform.

As I began modifying the combine to accommodate the model train display, it occurred to me that the baggage door should be open to admit ticket-buyers. And then, after removing the molded-on door, it occurred to me that it could be animated, functioning much like the roll-up doors I did for the firehouse on the White River and Northern IV, except sideways (above).

Then I installed the world's smallest model train in the enlarged window (above). Still to come are a foundation for the station, a platform and ramp to the entrance, decals and weathering.

For a number of years, the station on the Flemington end of the Black River & Western was a combine.
