History in a Nutshell
Takara Tomy is an enormous Japanese toy
manufacturer. Founded in 1924 as Tomiyama, it was incorporated as
Tomy Kogyo Co., Ltd.
in 1963. Tomix, a division of Tomy, has been making N Scale model trains and accessories for many years under the brand name Tomytec,
including vehicles, dioramas and figures.
N Scale Products
I have a lead on a Shinkansen ("Bullet Train") set that Tomy released in 1963 (as referenced in Donald Troost's Lone Star Model Train Reference Guide), which is said to have had the same rubber band drive as the Treble-0-Lectric trains from Lone Star. I will update this page with more information as I obtain it.
