While building my Aurora Postage Stamp Trains website, I began to research the amazing story of how N Scale came to be. While some information about individual manufacturers and their first products can be found elsewhere, there's no single comprehensive account of the scale's origin.

My goal is to present the complete history of the second most popular model railroading scale through 1969, paying particular attention to how it arrived in the United States. Like my Postage Stamp site, this is an information- and media-rich resource. Please enjoy!
