Red or Blue?

So, which are you? Reds will certainly be seeing same if they continue reading; meanwhile, Blues might be tempted to recommend I take a chill pill. Sorry, way too late for that.

Recent actions by the Supreme Court have begun to divide the nation in ways that haven't been seen since the Civil War. A certain former President—may his soul be eternally damned, assuming he has one, which I seriously doubt—has seen fit to reshape our highest court in his image. Which could spell the undoing of America.

Now, lest you mistake me for a flag-waving patriot, understand that I'm anything but. Patriotism—in its strictest definition—is an evil thing. It turns otherwise rational beings into chest-pounding robots. Among other things, the United States was formed for the very purpose of fighting such blind arrogance; we're allowed, through freedom of speech, to question if our homeland is headed the right direction, and even do something about it. Such questioning is fundamental to our existence; it makes our democracy self-correcting, in a sense.

Unfortunately, the downside to democracy is that it allows someone entirely unsuited to the highest office to gain access to it. Worse, enough people supported this mistake that it exacted a terrible cost on the country; reversing the damage may take decades, although there are forces at work even now to fight our attempts to recover. These forces are easily identified: they're Reds.

Make no mistake: Reds want to control everyone by taking away certain basic rights, and enacting political measures that imbue their ilk with more power—all the while accusing Blues of the very same things (oh, puh-leeze). They've made it patently clear they want to strip away reproductive rights (killing is bad!), while ensuring their members have free access to any form of weapon (killing is good!), including the most senselessly lethal kind that are only suitable for military warfare. It's even been suggested that there could be a return of segregation—not all that surprising, really, given they bow to a delusional white supremacist.

And this is just the beginning. Some political observers predict that the next several years will be the most perilous for our democracy, simply because Reds do not comprehend what democracy is, much less how it works. They actually came frighteningly close to staging a coup and installing their "leader" as this country's first unelected autocrat on January 6. Sort of ironic, since it's doubtful any of them even know the definition of the term "autocrat"; they're simply blindly following their moron-in-chief. Most disturbing of all: they're still working on it—and they believe they're entirely justified using deadly force in doing so.

"Tolerance" is taught in many cultures as a good thing, supposedly, and here's where I probably diverge from a purely Blue philosophy: Reds are dangerous and unworthy of tolerance. They deserve our wrath for threatening to undermine the very things that make this country genuinely "great." Sorry, "MAGA" is an oxymoron, created for and repeated by brainwashed deplorables attempting only to make themselves (feel) great. Let me put something in terms Reds might understand: anyone who has even the slightest respect for that fucking waste of skin Donald Trump does not deserve the freedoms, protection and respect offered by these United States.

I once knew a young woman—a kind, gentle Blue—whose father was so Red he'd put any of the January 6 insurrectionists to shame. When she told him of my terminal heart condition, he assured me, in absolute seriousness, that if he drove me to Florida and introduced me to Trump, he swore that Trump would cure me. Honestly, I'd be hard-pressed to make up anything more deranged than that.

Reds, go fuck yourselves.

Incidentally, here's my contribution to anti-Trump memes... if you've seen this one floating around anywhere, now you know where it came from:
