Tools: Small Bench Vise

You need to saw the end off of a metal part; how do you hold it? Someday you'll need a small bench vise. My vise of choice is likely the same as that of many other modelers: the Panavise. I've tried other small bench vises and similar tools, and while some may be stronger or smaller or whatever, they're not as versatile as this tool.

I have two sets of jaws for mine: steel and nylon, the latter being useful for holding objects that might be damaged by steel jaws. I also have the optional bench clamp that allows me to clamp the vise anywhere on my workbench.

Just getting started? Panavises and accessories are most readily available from online tool sources such as Micro-Mark. (It may seem like I'm "pushing" Micro-Mark, but I'm not; they specialize in tools for the hobbyist, and they have excellent customer service.)
