A landmark day three years ago: I installed the 28-foot long 2x12 ridge beam for the garage. That was quite a challenge! Today I face a different challenge: how to finish the house. If it's even possible.

On this day in 2016, I'd nearly completed framing the walls of the first level. Three years later, things are looking "good," but I'm nowhere near where I'd expected to be by now. I'd like to say I got some work done on the house outside, but it was actually too warm—it hit 80° yesterday afternoon. Maybe Wednesday, when the high isn't even supposed to hit 60°. Wacky weather indeed.

Spent some of the day yesterday helping a friend replace his mailbox after it had been demolished by a drunk driver the night before. I also received a surprise gift in the mail from a modeler—proof that there are still some genuinely nice people on the planet.
