My little friend is back, an Eastern Phoebe that I first noticed hanging around the back of the house three years ago. He and his wife built a nest in the unfinished soffit by the kitchen, and they're still using the same nest. I hope whoever gets the house leaves the soffit unfinished until the birds stop returning.

May Day 2021 looked remarkably like any mid-summer day, and by far the greenest one I've seen. Which is unfortunate, because that means global warming isn't slowing down. Makes me glad, in a way, that I'll be making an early exit.
