Thomas the Tanked Engine

This strange spoof (one of perhaps thousands on YouTube) actually became something of a learning tool for me to become familiar with my video editing software (Sony Movie Studio Platinum). Thus the Thomas series went through many changes. In its original form, it was pretty gross—but then again, it was never meant to be taken seriously.

After making 15 episodes, I re-engineered the series with a seriously goofy new title sequence, utilizing a free online animation application, plus a theme I detuned/remixed. This lasted for just a few episodes, with wildly mixed results. The entertainment value is virtually non-existent, but I present them so that you can see my progress as I struggled to find the right formula.

Ultimately I was inspired to completely re-engineer the series again, from the ground up. Once satisfied with the look, I made 32 episodes, several of which feature material from the original series (called "Throwback Thursdays"). This "third generation" version featured a new hard-rock styled theme tune, and also had vastly improved visual effects, including custom graphics and green screen—to what end I ponder still...

In retrospect, it really is a mixed bag all around. The most popular portion of the series came about when I photoshopped a puppet Donald Trump, and created a story about his buying the railroad. I found an online voice simulator, so he even sounds like The Donald. Ick.

So, consider yourself forewarned: there may be a chuckle or two lost amidst a glut of pure nonsense. The adventurous spirit will find hours of "fun" sifting through all of the merde. But if you want to cut to the chase, check out the third generation, second season.
