Attenborough's Horses

There has been a significant change at Attenborough's Fields: horses will no longer be grazed there. The tenant's right has lapsed on the expiry of their most recent contract and Hertfordshire County Council say that they are now "developing a management plan for the fields, which will enable them to be managed in a more environmentally friendly way that helps biodiversity". They suggest that the fields are currently over-grazed, though the horses have now been supplanted with red poll cattle (equine photographs are obviously archival pictures!).

Three foals. The summer's drying out the pond but there's a nearby trough with a piped supply for their convenience.
