The Wilhelm Scream
As a
wannabe sound designer, I've been intrigued by the "Wilhelm scream"
ever since hearing it in the original Star Wars. I recall thinking
that scream in the Death Star canyon sounded vaguely familiar. By that time I must have heard it in half a dozen old
films on television.
Given that there are countless web pages devoted to this Hollywood tradition, I'm not going to get into the details here. I'll simply say that I'm not alone in my micro-obsession with it, which is why I've highlighted all of the films featuring the scream here on my reviews website. If I've missed any, please let me know.
