With low expectations, I gave this series a try and had them all blown away. Scripts, performances and effects were all well above-average—to the extent I was actually just a little bummed the series was cancelled after two seasons. For one thing, it's (thankfully) not about the Terminator, but instead about the people in the Terminator canon; as such, we got to know Sara and her son in unexpected ways. Summer Glau (Firefly) is especially effective as a humanoid robot capable of totally unpredictable quasi-emotional responses. Cinemablend chose it as one of the "12 Shows Fox Should Be Embarrassed About Canceling" in 2015.
