David McCullough narrates one of my all-time favorite documentaries. Every couple of years I'll pop it in the player to remind myself just how good it is. If the canal is of any interest—and even if it isn't—this is one hour very well spent. By the end, you'll understand why The American Society of Civil Engineers named the the canal one of the seven wonders of the modern world.
Oh, and why the long title? It's a palindrome: it's spelled the same forwards as backwards.
