Peter Weller plays Chuck Taggart, a cigar-gnawing, Mustang-driving, wisecracking astronaut who witnesses the destruction of the Earth from his space shuttle, and thanks to the miraculous intervention of a mysterious alien, he and his crew are sent five years into the past to prevent the catastrophe. Although the premise is pretty shaky, some time-travel conundrums are explored in mildly intriguing ways, and his team includes a couple of interesting characters that are kind of fun to watch. But when the series suddenly stops dead in the middle of its story arc after 19 episodes, you just shrug and move on. I've yet to determine why Manny Coto's little brainchild died prematurely.
