The Martian Chronicles

1980, Milton Subotsky et al

Adapted from Ray Bradbury's 1950 novel of the same name, this miniseries managed to make Rock Hudson look like a struggling teen in a high school play. Indeed, it was described by Bradbury as "boring." Some concern was expressed that the screenplay deviated significantly from the novel, although given the sheer forgettability of this sorry production, it would seem to be of no concern. And given what we know of the planet Mars, even in the 1980s, the sheer absurdity of it all deflates any viability of it serving as an allegory.
