Legion

2017-2019, FX Productions et al

Ready for a genuine mind-f*ck? Legion will deliver one in spades. One minute there's a traditional group therapy session going on, and the next our characters are singing and marching across the stage like the Rockettes. All the while we're treated to a faithful representation of schizophrenia, amongst other mental disorders. There are some "superhero" elements—it is, after all, based on a Marvel comic property—but they're relatively brief and often twisted into a new, disturbing forms. The series concluded after three seasons, so it never loses its freshness; alas, it's a tad challenging to follow at times, and perhaps better appreciated by those familiar with the source material.
