Knick Knack

1989, Pixar

With some short film successes under their belts, Pixar's animation team decided to have some simple fun. Taking inspiration from Chuck Jones and Tex Avery, director John Lasseter created a four-minute comedy about a snowman stuck in a snow globe desperately trying to join his fellow dust collectors, who are all enjoying a party. While it was much lauded in its day, the film doesn't really do much for me mostly because the humor is all pure slapstick, and not without a teeny whiff of sexism.
