The Way Things Go
1987, Hans Ulrich Jordi and Marcel Hoehn
Here's something you don't see every day: a film about an enormous—and I mean enormous—Rube Goldberg device built by artists Peter Fischli and David Weiss. While it's an impressive exercise in creatively repurposing found objects, regrettably the half-hour Swiss film gets bogged down by several slow and/or repetitive processes, and ultimately—much like the machine—it doesn't really go anywhere; it's just there.
