One Man Band

Andrew Jimenez directed this marvelous 4½-minute short, establishing for Pixar the look and feel of many feature films to come—in particular, a visually rich, atmospheric environment and wonderfully stylized characters. Set in a deserted Italian village, Band presents an escalating battle between two street performers as they vie for a little girl's single coin. The character animation and timing of the sight gags would suggest Jimenez is a student of Chuck Jones. Michael Giacchino composed the delightful music.
