Peter and the Wolf

2006, Suzie Templeton

A British-Norwegian-Polish effort, this stop-motion "re-imaging" of the classic tale is imaginative and well-staged, creatively marrying action to music with excellent timing. Regrettably, overall the work is technically lacking: the animation is occasionally rather clumsy and amateurish, and some of the faces are at times a little creepy. This happens to have been the Academy winner for 2007, whereas I'd have picked Madame Tutli-Putli.
