Zathura: A Space Adventure

Despite a considerable investment of thought, care and energy by Jon Favreau and his production team, as well as the fine talents of the young actors, Zathura failed to win over audiences, and despite glowing reviews, it flopped at the box office. I could see why: the otherwise decent cast has no A-listers to lure audiences, and the story fails to grab your attention; I spent most of my time admiring the impressive, imaginative practical effects. It shared many of the same creative issues as the much more successful Jumanji.
