A Fish Called Wanda

1988, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer et al

Monty Python's John Cleese penned what in my book is hands down the funniest film ever made. Nominated for three Academy Awards, with Kevin Klein winning for Best Supporting Actor—and deservedly so—it also features another Python alum and every bit Cleese's comic equal, Michael Palin. There are far too many funny bits to count, but I think the whole notion of being sexually aroused by foreign languages is genius, and Jamie Lee Curtis pulls off her fetish brilliantly; when Cleese switches from Italian to Russian, I still split my gut. Whenever I need a good cheering up, this is my drug of choice.
