V for Vendetta

2006, Virtual Studios et al

Considerable issues surrounded the production of Vendetta, in particular a feud between the original comic's author, Alan Moore, and the film's writers, which included the Wachowski Brothers Sisters. Moore insisted the film failed to reflect his original intent. But having no awareness of the source material, I can only respond to what made it to the screen, and I found the results fascinating, gripping and enthralling, with a unique, captivating style. Despite never showing his face, Hugo Weaving was mesmerizing, and Natalie Portman delivered one of her better performances. Plus, Dario Marianelli contributed a memorable score.
