The Man from Uncle
I think critics were expecting more from this than the film was intended to deliver. Long on style and short on story—wait, that's the whole idea. Although it stumbles along the way, the charismatic leads keep us waiting for the next witticism, distracting us from the fact that the story is playing second fiddle. It was certainly far superior to the TV series that spawned it. And I suppose it helps to be of a particular generation to "get" what it's all about. I'm fine with that.
