Super 82011, Bad Robot Productions et al J.J. Abrams' homage to filmmakers' childhoods such as his own feels even more like an homage to co-producer Steven Spielberg, although it's not quite as good as the hype suggests. Its greatest failing is that it starts off with a promising premise and ends with a furious, outsized light-and-sound spectacle more appropriate for an installment of Star Wars; its greatest rewards, however, are found in the excellent performances of the promising young talent Abrams carefully gathered.
