Using the most restraint ever witnessed, Jim Carrey delivers a surprisingly touching performance in this imaginative, quirky "romantic science-fiction comedy drama" (yes, that's how it's classified). The premise of tinkering with memories allows the film to exploit non-linear narrative to oddly delightful effect. In the years since its release, it's become a major cult favorite; my problem is I can't look at Carrey and not be reminded of his terminally annoying comedy style.
