Logan's Run

1976, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer

Logan's Run is such a mixed bag that it's difficult to know where to begin. Every aspect of it—production, direction, acting, effects—runs the gamut from embarrassing to slightly-above-average. Consider: Box the robot was laugh-out-loud awful, while the views of Washington covered in vines were impressively memorable. Michael York and Jenny Agutter did their best with what they had, and Peter Ustinov provided some awkward comic relief. A year later, a dreadful television series was developed on a similar but open-ended premise, which mercifully died after only 14 episodes.
