Also known as Paris 2054: Renaissance, this trans-European production is classified as an animated tech noir science fiction film. The filmmakers combined motion-capture technology with computer image processing to create a unique stylized look. But while it's striking in appearance, the high-contrast monochrome visuals become tiresome on the eye long before the film's end, and a lackluster story doesn't help matters. Costing $18 million and taking six years to produce, Renaissance made less than $2 million at the box office worldwide. Also see Sin City.
