One might think that Johnny Depp would be a sure-fire hit voicing an animated character, but alas this did not prove to be the case. An awesome amount of genuine visual creativity and animation prowess went to waste on a predictable, derivative story that actually suffers from too much Depp. In a surprising twist, the consensus of the critics was swapped with the opinion of audiences: critics liked it, audiences didn't (when it's more often the opposite).
