Tom Cruise is back in a half-decent post-apocalyptic tale. Short on story but long on special effects, it won't disappoint those who enjoy well-crafted eye candy. Morgan Freeman is on hand to lend some credibility, and provide an adult counterpoint to Cruise's typically ADD-like behavior. The extras offer a glimpse into the obsessive efforts behind the effects, in particular the flying bubble ship; indeed, the making-of docs are as entertaining as the film.
