There's no escaping Tom Cruise, at least if you don't want to miss some decent films. Steven Spielberg does his magic on a rather strange sci-fi actioner with a strange premise that's tough to swallow. While this massive box office hit is up to Spielberg's usual high standards, I can't help but detect Cruise's influence on its production; this is perhaps not surprising, since he was a co-producer, and has a reputation as an egotistical control freak (notice that his name is larger than the film's title in the poster). Anyway, it's a decent ride so long as you check your brain at the door.
