Bob Hoskins embarrassed himself in this ill-conceived film version of the classic Nintendo game of the same name. Long on spectacle and seriously short on story, it nevertheless gained a strong cult following. Also to its credit, it featured a number of innovative visual effects that helped move the industry into the digital realm. Perhaps if you dusted off your bong just prior to viewing, it wouldn't be half bad.
