The Last Days on Mars

The first fifteen minutes or so of The Last Days on Mars were thrilling: it numbered among the most plausible-looking depictions of space exploration on film. And then it all came to a crashing, disappointing, even revolting stop when it suddenly morphed into a night-of-the-living-dead horror film. My genuine surprise was due to the fact that I'd not seen or read anything about it, so I was totally ignorant of what was to come; in fact, I might not have bothered watching it had I known what it was. What a bummer that well-above-average production values and visual design talents were wasted on trashy schlock horror. That it cost $10 million and earned an embarrassing $24,000 kind of says it all right there.
