While the principal draws are naturally Jim Henson and David Bowie, this follow-up to The Dark Crystal is hobbled by a paper-thin story and weak, painfully dated acting, particularly on the part of a young Jennifer Connelly. Jim Henson's imagination simply cannot compensate for the film's shortcomings.
