Independence Day1996, Centropolis Entertainment The very definition of a summer blockbuster, Independence Day delivers the goods: big and loud, with lots of explosions and sharp Will Smith witticisms. Don't expect much of a plot—it's mission is nothing more than sheer spectacle. Grab some extra popcorn, 'cause it's 145 minutes of rah, rah, 'Merica! DKS 12/17/17 GRUMPY OLD FART-O-METER® Rating:

Independence Day: Resurgence2010, Centropolis Entertainment et al Well, that took long enough. Given the success of Independence Day, I'd have expected to see a sequel released years sooner—not that I was necessarily anxious for one, and I think the world would have been better off without it. Resurgence has no redeeming qualities that I can discern; it's completely implausible from beginning to end, with nothing to induce me to suspend my disbelief. I felt embarrassed mostly for Jeff Goldblum, who seems as though he got roped into it as a favor to someone. DKS 12/17/17 GRUMPY OLD FART-O-METER® Rating:
