This is a really tough film to pin down: is it a romantic? a comedy? a period drama? It really succeeds brilliantly at any and all. Terminally witty, charming, and a visual feast, it's all carried along gleefully by an awesome cast that includes Gwyneth Paltrow and Joseph Fiennes as our star-crossed lovers. I will add one thing: it's probably the best date film ever—especially when you both really love it. (Guys, learn to love it if you have to—it's worth it.) Winner of no less than seven Academy Awards.
