Impostor

2002, Dimension Films

I don't quite get why this film deserved such harsh criticism. It wasn't particularly good, but it wasn't that bad, either. Adapted from yet another Philip K. Dick story, the film was oppressively dark and emotionally claustrophobic in unsettlingly effective ways, and I thought Gary Sinise's performance was credible. But it turned out to be a critical and financial disaster, barely earning back one-fifth of its budget.
