This sloppy mess seems to have been created solely as an excuse to have Will Smith play a wise-ass anti-superhero, which to be honest isn't much of a stretch for him. But as the titular character, his irreverence is unfunny and mean-spirited, leaving a sour taste in the viewer's mouth, while the story seems at best contrived and at worst just plain stupid. Sadly, some promising set pieces and decent effects were thrown away on a film that does little more than run laps.
