Our Man Flint

1966, Saul David

Few have come to appreciate James Colburn's Derek Flint as a better 007 than any iteration of 007; perhaps that's because few fans will admit the early Bond films were becoming progressively more absurd; Flint was brave enough to take Bond where he was ultimately headed. While not outrageously funny, it's still absurd enough to give Bond a good poke in the eye, even if it is sadly dated.

In Like Flint

1967, Saul David

It's hard to say if it was a good thing the franchise ended after only two—since the risk was too much of a good thing—or if it could have gone on, given how funny it was. Perhaps if the sequel was a bit better, things might have gone differently; as it is, this one seemed like a cheap knock-off of itself, and has not aged well.
