Edge of Tomorrow

2014, Village Roadshow Pictures et al

I do not like Tom Cruise. The problem is, though, if I allowed my dislike of him to stop me from seeing any film in which he appears, I'd admittedly miss some good ones. And Edge of Tomorrow is a good film. Taught, hard-hitting and well-produced, it's one of the few über-violent, destroy-all-monster-shoot-em-ups I could not only tolerate, but enjoy. While the ending is a little predictable, it remains true to the rules of the story, and indeed saves the film from being a depressing waste of time.
