Judge Dredd

1995, Hollywood Pictures et al

About the only things going for this Bucket o' Stallone are its exuberant visual style and some above-average stunts. It's otherwise an uninhabitable wasteland, much like the story's setting.

Dredd

2012, Lionsgate et al

Here we have a remake that's nearly as bad as the original. Karl Urban (a.k.a. Bones in the Star Trek reboot) is miscast as Stallone's replacement, lost amidst a sea of so-so special effects (in 3D, no less) that can't disguise a witless script and bad acting. A box office disaster, Dredd saw somewhat better performance on home media, and has become something of a minor cult film.
