At some point I'll return to this review and expand it. For now, it's enough to know that Contact stands as my all-time favorite film, for reasons too numerous to count. I actually like it better than Sagan's book, which sits proudly at the top of my favorite novel list. Supremely intelligent, deeply moving, sublimely beautiful, it's proof that the science in science fiction can be rendered as cinematic art.
