Cinderella

Hey, fantasy is right behind science fiction for me, so I'll fess up to being nearly as interested in this as Star Wars. Well, maybe not Cinderella per se, but fantasy is a broad genre. Be that as it may, the inevitable live-action adaptation includes a few obligatory "modern" touches to keep it from feeling offensively dated, so the title character was "empowered"—but only just a little. Aside from extraordinary visuals, it seemed rather flat, paying service—rather than homage—to Disney's original cartoon. Lily James as the title character fit visually, but she didn't have the muscle to successfully pull the character out of 2D and into 3D. YMMV.
