Never has any film created in me such a visceral sense of fear and dread. Although it's very well dubbed in English, Das Boot actually works slightly better in German, as it heightens the realism to uneasy levels, to the point that I found myself sweating. Although harshly panned by a former U-boat commander, it's hailed as the finest German film ever made.
