Armageddon

Michael Bay, the man responsible for the abysmal Transformers franchise, created an apocalyptic film in more ways than one. Universally panned, Armageddon nevertheless wound up in the Criterion Collection for reasons I don't pretend to understand, particularly since Criterion isn't given to promoting films "so bad they're good." Anyway, Armageddon isn't so bad it's good; it's simply bad. Still, it's hard to argue with the fact that it was a box office success—just as many of Bay's films have been. He obviously has a formula that works; I just find it hard to believe there are so many people with such bad taste...
