Memory Lane

How it used to be...

When I launched this website back in 2021-ish, I had a very different mental picture of my musical life. I was attempting to rekindle an old love affair with vinyl, not because I thought it was superior to digital, but because it brought with it record jackets, liner notes, and other ephemera that filled my senses growing up. And so my initial releases were all done as if part of a record catalog, featuring all of the lovely trappings of vinyl.

Later I expanded this into cassette releases, then CDs. The joy I had was creating all of the artwork for all of these releases. What follows are some selections from that era of my music-making.

Green Magic

This was a special 3-LP set in a gatefold record sleeve: lots of real estate inside for art and text. Incidentally, I wrote all of the text, so if this was ever to be released as an actual vinyl set, all of the art was ready.

Quarter To

Quarter To marked my entry into jazz/fusion. I produced quite a few tracks, eventually spilling into a second LP, Wasn't Me. I had a third album planned, Last Round's On Me, but never produced enough tracks to fill it out.

Just Getting Started

This anthology of ancient works was released on cassette. Other titles in this series include Brace Yourself and Unfinished Business.

Harder Faster Stranger

With the arrival of scads of EDM came CD releases. There was also Brain Churn, I Don't Dance, Still Don't Dance, Oblivion and OST.

I did loads of other art for all of my play-pretend releases; I even created an Unreasonable Records catalog listing them all. Those were the days.
